Tapas / Small Plates Food Holiday Spanish

¡Olé! El Tapeo Modern Spanish Kitchen, located on the Ninth Floor of Le Méridien Chicago - Oakbrook Center at 2100 Spring Road, celebrates World Tapas Day on Thursday, June 21. The country of Spain had declared this international day of celebration back in 2016 to commemorate the signature small plate and its significance in Spanish cuisine. To honor the holiday, El Tapeo will offer an exclusive Pimenton de Cerdo tapas dish throughout the day, with a portion of proceeds benefitting the Hinsdale Humane Society.

To celebrate World Tapas Day, Executive Chef Matthew Cappellini has created an exclusive Pimenton de Cerdo dish, handcrafted with pan-fried peppered bacon and a saffron orange dipper. Guests can also choose from a selection of other signature tapas, including: Datiles, fried medjool dates, marcona almonds, and cherry-wood bacon; Coca, tomato jam, goat cheese, arugula, and flatbread; Alitas de Cerdo, three miniature pork shanks, and orange-jalapeño glaze; Gambas al Ajillo, sautéed shrimp, garlic, fresh herbs, and polenta bread; Vieras Fritas, fried bay scallops, chermoula, frisee, and espelette; and more.

The Pimenton de Cerdo tapas cost $9 each, and all proceeds go directly to the Hinsdale Humane Society. Regular hours for the restaurant are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The lounge is open from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, offering happy hour Monday through Friday from 4p.m. to 6p.m.
