Eataly Chicago, in River North, has relaunched Il Tartufo, a pop-up restaurant dedicated to fresh white Italian truffles. In collaboration with Urbani, an Italian truffle purveyor, the restaurant will be open through Friday, December 30.
Il Tartufo, literally meaning “the truffle,” will be led by Eataly Chicago Executive Chef Rob Wing with a full menu of antipasti, primi, secondi, and dolci. Some dishes include: Agnolotti del Plin con Burro di Beppino Occelli (housemade pork-and-veal-stuffed fresh pasta with butter sauce); Coda di Rospo (roasted monkfish served on a bed of sauteed mushrooms, farro, and black truffle butter); and Midollo (roasted bone marrow with truffled onion marmellata, bread crumbs, and fresh parsley).
“At Il Tartufo, you’ll find both classic Italian dishes alongside Italian-inspired dishes from our kitchens” -Rob Wing, executive chef for Eataly Chicago
The menu also highlights a four-course tasting menu (including tasting portions of one antipasto, primo, secondo, and dolce) and a shared dining experience for two or more, called "Carne, Vino, e Tartufo" for $225. This offer includes a heaping plate of braised short rib, polenta, and seasonal roasted vegetables; a bottle of 2004 Borgogno Barolo; and a whole white truffle for the table.
Hours will be Wednesday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with the exclusion of Wednesday, November 23, and Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 24). On Sunday, November 20, and Wednesday, December 21, Eataly will host its famous “Truffle Day,” selling truffles at cost in the market, restaurants, and online for one day only.
