Special Events Cafe Afternoon Tea Mother's Day European West Loop

Duran European Cafe, a European style cafe located in West Town, is known for their open-faced sandwiches, delicate pastries and full tea service.

As of last month, they began making all bread in-house and have added a number of new and improved items to their pastry selection. The bread recipes are using a starter culture that originated in France over 80 years ago. The featured breads will include: Duran Pan Die Mie, Seeded Multigrain, Olive Fougasse, Pain au Saucission, Pain au Fromage, Country Bread and German Rye.

Tracy Miller, owner of Duran European Cafe, decided to create an in-house program to complement the artisanal products she has been creating since opening the cafe in 2012. Remaining authentic is the cafe's highest priority, so the introduction of this baking and pastry program will continue their commitment. The breads will be used for sandwiches and the specialty breads as accompaniment to the scratch soups. Eventually, Duran will begin offering the breads separately at the cafe.

The baked goods will use classic French techniques and locally sourced ingredients to re-create traditional European delicacies such as almond horns, palmiers, canneles and an assortment of specialty croissants. Timeless American dishes that have become local favorites like the Bourbon Bread Pudding, Savory Stratta and Cinnamon Crumb Coffee Cake will still be available at the cafe. Duran has further developed the gluten free and vegan section of the pastry menu to include Dark Chocolate Biscotti, Oatmeal- Raisin Cookies, Pecan Financier, Coconut Macaroon dipped in dark chocolate ganache and the Vegan Morning Loaf, loaded with seeds and dried fruit.

Check out the in-house breads and pastries this Mother's Day as Duran will be hosting an all day Tea Service. The service will include a choice of two of their artfully prepared open-faced sandwiches, any pastry from the case, two tea cookies, and a choice of over 30 loose leaf teas for $15.00. Duran is also BYOB with fresh squeezed orange juice on hand, so it's a great spot to grab mimosas with mom!
