Food Festival Back of the Yards

Plant Chicago, a local nonprofit, will be hosting its 6th annual Closed Loop Food Fest on Saturday, July 29th from 10:00 a.m until 6 p.m. at The Plant, 1400 W. 46th Street. Plant Chicago develops circular economies of food production, energy conservation and material reuse through education and research. The festival will feature live performances by artists and DJ’s from the Chicagoland area. The sound stage will be a solar powered mobile venue called SolarBeatz. Join several local food trucks and vendors to celebrate sustainable food systems and energy production. The Closed Loop Food Fest is a family friendly fundraiser with activities for all ages. Proceeds from the event support Plant Chicago’s year-round farmers market, education & research programming.

Participating vendors will include: Bruges Brothers, Hearth & Market, Pleasant House Bread, Ste Martaen, Cevapcici Chicago, Whiner Beer Company, Four Letter Word Coffee, Arize Kombucha, and more.

Activities include an interactive art wall, yoga, caricature drawing, and material reuse experiments. Plant Chicago and tenants at The Plant will host mini workshops on fish filleting, vermiculture, composting, the circular economy, and more. The Closed Loop Food Fest is running in conjunction with PC’s year round farmers market (market ends at 2pm).
