City Winery at the Chicago Riverwalk opened early this year with an extended season, offering a new retractable enclosure allowing for guests in all weather conditions while still offering views of the city and the Chicago River. The wine bar and restaurant is now open rain-or-shine, serving a menu of wines made in Chicago at City Winery’s West Loop location, and dishes created to pair with the wines.

Spring menu options by the Riverwalk location’s Executive Chef, Leomie Walton include Watermelon and Feta Salad, a Lobster Roll with Calabrian peppers, Pulled Pork Tacos, and Whiskey Peach Pound Cake. Also featured on the menu are City Winery wines on tap crafted by Head Winemaker Caroline Schrader, local seasonal beer offerings, crafted cocktails such as the Chicago Sour, City Sangria & City Mule.

Executive Chef Leomie Walton's culinary journey started at home learning from her parents and grandparents which led her to taking up Culinary Arts as a major at Curie High School. She won a full culinary scholarship from C-CAP (Careers Through Culinary Arts Program) which led her to Lexington College for Culinary Arts with a minor in Hospitality Management. After years of working at a variety of restaurants she landed at City Winery in 2022.

Schrader—the first female Head Winemaker for City Winery Chicago—is a winemaker dedicated to creating wine reflective of true craft and care through focused, hands-on production. She focuses on small-lot craft wine, from barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc to Grenache. Her wines are made in City Winery’s West Loop location in Chicago, the area’s only fully operational winery, sourcing from vineyards in California, Oregon, Washington, Argentina and Chile.

City Winery’s wine garden is dog friendly with a special dog menu (Doggie Rosé  and a Charcuterie Bone) launching soon.
