Epic Burger, is bringing something new to the game with the debut of their first ever non-burger, that also happens to be plant-based. On Monday, August 26, Epic Burger will officially launch the Beyond Sausage™ Bratwurst or “Beyond Brat,” a plant-based sausage from Beyond Meat®. The Beyond Brat emulates the real taste of a traditional bratwurst.

Launching ahead of Labor Day weekend, the Beyond Brat is served in the traditional Chicago-brat-style with grilled onions, spicy brown mustard, on a brioche bun. Epic Burger flash-fries the link to give the plant-based casing added texture and snap.

Beyond Just Burgers: Epic Burger was the first fast-casual burger restaurant in Chicago to debut Beyond Meat, with the introduction of the Beyond Burger in 2018. Now 2019 marks Epic Burger’s first venture into new territory, by offering its fanbase a bratwurst to kick off fall. "Chicago is the sausage capital of the US and with Epic Burger being Chicago born and bred, it was something we always wanted to bring to the menu,” says Epic Burger Marketing Director Spencer Most. “We’ve been waiting a long time to branch outside the burger and when we tasted the Beyond Sausage bratwurst, we knew this was the one. It's remarkable how truly indistinguishable it is from a traditional brat.”

How The Sausage Is Made: This innovation from Beyond Meat delivers 16 grams of plant-based protein, more than that of traditional pork sausage, and 38% less saturated fat. Unlike pork sausage, it contains no nitrates or antibiotics, and has no GMOs, soy, or gluten to boot.

The Beyond Brat is priced at $7.99 and will be available for a limited time only at all eight Epic Burger locations throughout Chicago.
