It's January, and while summer food festivals are still months away, the winter food fest scene is heating up! This Sunday, January 22nd, the Chicago Vegan Mac Down is scheduled to take place. The event is an all vegan mac n' cheese cook-off fundraiser for Factory Farming Awareness Coalition from 11am-2pm at the Latin American Motorcycle Club in Logan Square. The chef lineup is a diverse mix of individual chefs representing different restaurants and companies in Chicago, all competing to see who has the best vegan mac n' cheese in Chicago.
In addition to the competition, there are going to be local vendors, raffle prizes and a live DJ. The event is expected to draw hundreds of vegans and omnivores alike and advanced online ticket sales have already sold out. Don't worry, walk-up tickets will be available at the door starting at Noon on Saturday. Tickets are $12 and get you samples of all participating vendors.
