Main takeaways: Chicago to Host 2026 World Class U.S. Bartending Finals May 11-13
Chicago will host the 2026 U.S. National Finals of the World Class bartending competition from May 11–13. The event is presented by Tales of the Cocktail Foundation and will bring 15 bartenders from across the country to the city for a multi-day competition focused on cocktail preparation, hospitality, and technical performance.
The finalists advanced through a national selection process based on original cocktail submissions evaluated on creativity, flavor, technique, and execution. During the Chicago finals, competitors will participate in a series of in-person challenges, with the field narrowing to a Top 5 before one bartender is named the 2026 World Class U.S. Bartender of the Year. The winner will represent the United States at the global finals against competitors from more than 50 countries.
Events will be centered at Offshore Rooftop, which will serve as the competition’s home base throughout the week. Organizers said the broader World Class Cocktail Festival will extend across Chicago bars and restaurants with participating venues offering featured cocktails and programming connected to the event.
The public schedule begins Sunday, May 10 with pre-competition programming, followed by the first day of national finals competition on Monday, May 11 and continuing through May 13. Organizers said the event will include live competition viewing, brand activations, cocktail programming, and hospitality events open to guests age 21 and older.
Organizers said the event reflects an expanded partnership between the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation and Diageo focused on bartender education and professional development. “World Class is designed to celebrate and champion the craft, creativity, and dedication that define the bartending community,” said Erin Creighton, director of marketing for on-premise at Diageo. “The talent represented in this year’s Top 15 finalists reflects the evolution of cocktail culture in the U.S. Through our continued partnership with Tales of the Cocktail Foundation, we are working to create opportunities that support career development and the hospitality community.”
