In the wake of COVID-19, millions of vulnerable children have lost the nutritious meals they depend on as the coronavirus has closed schools nationwide. In fact, kids who rely on school for food have missed nearly 608 million meals to date. To help bridge this gap, Chicago Bears running back, Tarik Cohen, along with other pro sports athletes have teamed up with PepsiCo Foodservice and the PepsiCo Foundation to launch Give Meals, Give Hope to distribute millions of meals to kids in need and support efforts from No Kid Hungry.
PepsiCo Foodservice has enlisted these athletes to rally the local community via social media. Additionally since launch, other NFL players such as Saquon Barkley, Calais Campbell, Sam Hubbard, Juju Smith-Schuster, Joe Staleyand Melvin Gordon, as well as New York Yankee’s Aaron Judgeand WNBA’s A’ja Wilsonhave all joined the movement and are sharing how people can get involved to contribute to No Kid Hungry and spread the word about this important issue using #GiveMealsGiveHope.
PepsiCo will also match $1 million of all contributions through April 30 as part of its $45 million effort to help the people and communities most affected by this devastating virus.
