Chef John Shields is bringing Southern flair to his two Michelin-starred restaurant Smyth. The “Johnny Good Times’ Smoked Meats” pop-up brings a new flavor profile to his tasting menu, available for dining in your own home. On the reason for the launch, Chef John Shields offers, “My dad always wanted to open a BBQ restaurant with me. With the arrival of our new sous Brian Barker, who spent a lot of time with us in Asheville, North Carolina and at our previous restaurant Town House, everything added up. It’s perfect time for comfort.”

Beginning November 13, the chef launches a variety of BBQ offerings. For $30, the full Johnny Good Times’ dinner experience features:

·      Smoked prime short rib

·      Buttermilk coleslaw

·      John Copes' cornbread with habanada-honey butter

·      Classic banana pudding

The a la carte menu includes applewood-smoked shrimp, Carolina-style BBQ pork, BBQ smoked Slagel Farms free-range chicken, John’s family recipe for potato salad, pickled ramps and peppers, soft pretzel with Pleasant Ridge Cheese sauce and a peach cobbler. Make it a “hi-lo” pairing by adding on a bottle of Champagne.

In addition to the Johnny’s Good Times’ menu, new meals and a la carte items are added each week, available for pick-up and delivery on TOCK and Caviar.

Smyth + The Loyalist is located at 177 N. Ada St. in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood.
