What's Happening

Mercadito will be featuring traditional “platos” in honor of Mexican Independence Day such as:

  • Chiles Nogadas, a traditional Mexican dish made of poblano chilis, filled with picadillo and topped with a walnut-based cream sauce and pomegranate seeds. This dish incorporates the three colors of the Mexican flag: green from the chili, white from the nut sauce and red from the pomegranate. The traditional chile en nogada is tied to the independence of the country, making it the “plato” of choice for Mexican Independence Day
  • Pozole, a traditional Mexican soup commonly enjoyed during Mexican Independence Day, birthdays, Christmas and other holidays.
