DOWNERS GROVE, IL (MAY 1-5, 2015) Barbakoa is undoubtedly the best place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo this year. The vivacious restaurant & bar, known for its wide variety of tacos and tequila, will host a weeklong celebration featuring a pig roast, dining and drinking specials, live music from the Sones de Mexico ensemble and other live entertainment. The public is invited to join Barbakoa as they celebrate Cinco de Mayo from May 1-5, 2015.

Aside from a special prix fixe menu and drink specials all week long, dine-in customers can enjoy salsa dancing and a DJ spinning festive beats on Saturday, May 2 from 10pm-2am. The celebratory pig roast will be on Tuesday, May 5 paired with live music from popular local group, Sones de Mexico, from 6-9pm. Sones de Mexico is a not-for-profit ensemble that formed in Chicago in 1994. The group was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Folk Album of 2007 and a Grammy for Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album – their performance is not to be missed! The gourmet pig roast will be done in accordance to Mexican traditional methods; Yucatán-style slow roasted pork covered in banana leaves.

Executive Chef Dudley Nieto hails from Puebla, Mexico, where the Mexicans defeated the French on May 5, 1862. With Mexican and French influences meshed into his dishes, Nieto has created a prix fixe menu available for $33 per person. The savory menu includes options of guacamole, ceviche, tacos, dessert, and more. Diners can also enjoy pitchers of Barbakoa’s handcrafted margarita for $39, only available in pitcher form twice a year.
