Holiday Mexican Magnificient Mile

Before You Go

Starting today, Casa Chi by Chef Richard Sandoval Chicago’s Magnificent Mile is celebrating Día de los Muertos with El Sol Dorado, a limited-time experience running through November 3 that brings the holiday to life through themes of light, transformation and celebration.

Inspired by the sun, harvest and marigold paths that guide loved ones home, El Sol Dorado uses gold as a symbol of energy, remembrance and the light that remains. At Casa Chi, that story is primarily told through a collection of festive cocktails and a zero-proof option, with sun-kissed ingredients woven throughout.

The lineup includes the Saffron Sour ($18), made with cinnamon-saffron syrup, lime, fresh-pressed tangerine juice and El Tequileño reposado tequila; the Elote Margarita ($18), featuring tamarind syrup, nixta elote liqueur and El Tequileño blanco tequila; and the Punch Calavera ($15), a zero-proof blend of hibiscus, cinnamon tea, guava, orange and marigold petals. The menu also features the Luz de Mar Tiradito ($26), pairing salmon and hamachi with saffron aguachile, mango relish and salsa macha. Reservations can be made on OpenTable.

Together, the offerings bring a vibrant, golden take on Día de los Muertos to the Chicago dining scene, celebrating Mexican traditions through color, flavor and the spirit of coming together.
