Call Your Mother Deli is opening its second Chicago shop on Monday, October 26, at 2956 North Sheffield Avenue.
Founded by Andrew Dana and Chef Daniela Moreira back in 2018, Call Your Mother grew from a farmers market stand in DC into a neighborhood bagel shop that landed in Chicago earlier this year in Wicker Park.
After asking staff and guests to share their favorite Chicago neighborhoods, the Call Your Mother team found a space in Lakeview and fell in love. They recruited local muralist Kevin Garbacz to paint the deli’s signature telephone wires on the outside of the building. Meanwhile on the inside, a wooden canoe and trophy fish were already there, offering the starting point for a shop inspired by summer camp and the simple joy of making new friends. The team repurposed the canoe, which now shares the space with camp-inspired movie posters from the ’90s and vintage-style triangular team pennants, bringing a little mess-hall mischief to the morning bagel run.
At the heart of the shop is the full Call Your Mother menu made for breakfast runs, lunch breaks and catching up over carbs. Call Your Mother’s bagels combine a boiled exterior inspired by New York bagels with a hint of honey inspired by Montreal Bagels. Boiled in real malt and baked fresh daily in each shop, they have a chewy inside, crisp exterior and a smaller hole built to hold their big sandwiches.
The lineup includes the Jetski, loaded with brisket, pastrami, sofrito, jalapeño, cheddar and American cheese on a cheddar bagel. For something sweet, housemade treats include babka muffins and cookies, plus seasonal offerings like the Pumpkin Black & White cookie topped with Biscoff crumblies. Guests can also order a pick-me-up alongside those carbs, from Call Your Mother’s signature house Daily Drip coffee to the seasonal Banana Bread Matcha Latte.
For groups, the shop also offers everyday and holiday catering, including bagel & schmear spreads, smoked salmon platters and assorted bagel sandwich boxes. From office breakfasts and team lunches to family brunches and holiday gatherings, the shop is made to handle the heavy carb-lifting.
Call Your Mother Lakeview will be open 6:30 a.m.–2 p.m. weekdays and 6:30a.m.–3 p.m on weekends.
