The Details

Buona, Chicago’s Original Italian Beef, today announced a friendly National Hot Dog Day competition with Chicagoland’s other purveyor of Chicago street food – Portillo’s. While Portillo’s is offering hot dogs for $1.00 on  #nationalhotdogday, July 19, Buona is raising the stakes by making the same offer – with a Chicago twist – on the day before (July 18). Buona is honoring Chicago tradition by penalizing those who order ketchup on their dog. Here’s the deal at Buona: All hot dogs, with any toppings other than ketchup will sell for a buck with a side and a drink on Tuesday, July 18. Diners who’ve gotta have ketchup will pay $1.50 for their dog along with their side and drink. Kapeesh?

Buona celebrates all Chicago originals – it’s the Official Italian Beef of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox! The family-owned business has successfully lobbied to proclaim every Saturday prior to Memorial Day as National Italian Beef Day.
