Bokuchan's opened on September 15, 2020. Born from a shared affinity for Japanese curry, Chefs Shin Thompson and Līga Sigal created a menu of curries, noodles, and katsu available via their delivery and pick-up kitchen in Avondale with gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options.

Japanese Curry, aka Karē, is typically thicker, milder, and sweeter than its Indian counterpart and served with Japanese rice. Bokuchan’s curries are made daily from scratch, and are all-natural with no added preservatives typically found in boxed curries. Chefs Thompson and Sigal created a rich curry base with a thickened vegetable with ginger, garlic, carrots, caramelized onions, and no flour. The custom-made spice blend used includes 23 spices with tastes of turmeric, fenugreek, star anise, Sichuan peppercorns, curry leaves, cumin, and coriander. The curries are paired with proteins like beef, chicken katsu, tonkatsu, and king oyster mushrooms.
