On Sunday, August 28, Wicker Park’s late-night honky tonk will close out their summer music + grilling series with a bang! The fourth installation of the summer series, affectionately called Girls Grills Grills, will be led by the Chicago Women’s Brigade, an organization started by Abra Berens of Local Foods and Sarah Rinkavage of Lula Cafe to spotlight Chicago’s leading female talent in the culinary industry. For one night only, Chicago’s top female chefs and mixologists will join Big Star’s chef Julie Warpinski for the biggest BBQ yet, featuring special menu items from each guest and live performances by Henhouse Growlers and DJ Melissa Grubbs. In addition to live music and limited-time-only bites, Big Star’s beverage director, Laurent Lebec, will be pouring specialty cocktails and guests will have a chance to win raffle items from Old Forester and Jack Daniel’s including bar tools, speakers, and swag. Proceeds from this event will benefit Growing Power, a non-profit aimed at making healthy and affordable foods accessible to all communities. Menu items and cocktails will be available a la carte and there is no additional cost to enjoy the live music.
