Torali at The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago

Overlooking downtown Chicago and the Magnificent Mile from the 12th floor of The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago, the Rooftop at Torali is open for the season, offering a lounge setting for handcrafted cocktails, Italian-inspired bites and shared plates. 

Open Mondays and Tuesdays from 3 to 11 p.m. and Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., guests can visit the Rooftop at Torali with live beats by local musicians, drink specials, and more paired with views. Guests will find seating areas, mood lighting, fireplace and lhanging florals.

Francesca’s

Francesca’s on Chestnut (Gold Coast) and Mia Francesca (Lakeview) just launched a new cocktail list of spritzes on their patio which has officially opened for the entirety of the season at the Mia Francesca’s location. The patio is dog-friendly and provides shade.  

Cocktail options include:

    • homemade limoncello + grey goose infused strawberry lemongrass + strawberry puree + lemon + aegean tonic

Chateau Carbide

Chateau Carbide, the rooftop cocktail lounge at Pendry Chicago is opening again for the season on Saturday, June 1st.

Chateau Carbide's updated menu features a new lineup of light bites—like the Wagyu Tartar served on brioche with yuzu pear and egg marmalade, or the Fluke Crudo, dressed with La Fée Absinthe, preserved lemon, pine nuts & chamomile— and cocktails— including the Black Truffle Mocha Martini, crafted with Belvedere Vodka, 24 karat gold and 2012 Chocolate Truffle Pu-erh tea, or the Sea Breeze, made with Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, salted lemon, andtajin with a smoked black lime rim— plus an absinthe collection, wine list, and curated beer options. For summer 2024, the Pendry Chicago team is paying homage to the building’s Prohibition-era roots with all-new beverages:

  • ROOFTOP ABSINTHE CLASSES: Head up to Chateau Carbide on the third Saturday of each month and dive into the basics of the spirit during an afternoon crash course. Under the guidance of Pendry’s skilled mixologists, you’ll learn how to partake in absinthe as a spirit but also the nuances between different varieties. Classes cost $49 per person and can be reserved through OpenTable. 
  • COCKTAIL POP-UP SERIES: Throughout the summer, expect new, cocktail programming. Coming up over James Beard Awards weekend, Chateau Carbide will be welcoming two James Beard Finalist bar teams to their wells— on Friday, 6/7, Strong Water Anaheim from Anaheim, CA, and on Saturday, 6/8, Barr Hill Cocktail Bar from Montpelier, VT will each be on-site presenting their cocktail offerings in open-to-the-public events. Attendees will be able to try some of their signature drinks and chat with each team.

Additionally, on weekdays from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, the French Apero Hour brings live music and half priced bites & select bottles of absinthe. The Summer Live Music series will feature DJs every Friday & Saturday from 6 pm to 10 pm.  Reservations are available through OpenTable.

Aire Rooftop

Aire Rooftop (100 W Monroe St.) above the Hyatt Centric the Loop Chicago, is opening on May 19th for the 2024 summer season. Aire has announced new modifications of the space, including new furniture and added seating, a new weekday lunch and weekend brunch menu, and a variety of summertime libations from their Frozen Negronis to their Airespresso Martini.

Maxwells Trading

Maxwells Trading's patio (1516 W Carroll Ave) launches May 28 and it'll operate on a first come, first served basis and is dog-friendly. They also have a few new spring menu items in the mix:

  • Japanese Sweet Potato - Sian style Thai green curry, basil
  • King Salmon - Tokyo turnip & turnip greens, dill vinaigrette
  • Salt & Pepper Asparagus - lemon, jalapeno, green goddess

Maxwells Trading is open Tuesday through Wednesday from 5pm to 9pm and Thursday through Saturday from 5pm to 10pm.

ROOF on theWit

Perched 27 stories about Chicago’s skyline, ROOF has a mix of design and entertainment, views and hand-crafted cocktails and cuisine overseen by Executive Chef Micahel Taus. 

A retractable glass roof makes ROOF a year-round option – allowing for imbibing under the sun or stars in the summer or alongside the indoor fire elements in the winter. A wine and spirits program and an internationally minded food menu with mezze, sushi and wood-fired pizzas. DJs, acoustic music series and fashion shows are hosted year-round, and Saturday daytime brunch. New this spring: Girl’s Night Out. Taking place every Wednesday from 6-10 p.m., ladies drink specials, giveaways, raffles for high end fashion pieces and DJ entertainment.

The Albert

The Albert offers guests an al fresco patio. Alongside East Ontario Street in Streeterville, seating for 30 is ensconced by florals and potted plants evoking gardens found in Calabria – Executive Chef Steve Chiappetti’s ancestral origins. There, they can select from salads, house-made pastas, light seafood preparations and proteins. 

In celebration of the season, Chef Chiappetti, an avid gardener, will also plant a rooftop garden atop Hotel EMC2 this May in partnership with Elawa Farm Foundation. Freshly grown herbs and other ingredients will inform his dishes, as well as the team’s seasonal cocktail creations, all summer long. 

The Albert’s outdoor patio is open for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch, weather permitting.

Machine: Engineered Dining & Drink

To celebrate the warmer weather, Machine is officially launching patio season on May 1st with "The Tropical Garden" -- a tiki-themed patio experience. The Tropical Garden at Machine will feature lounge furniture with fire tables, as well as traditional patio dining tables. The patio is adorned with tiki torches, palm trees, tropical decor, rugs, and gazebo chandeliers with greenery. 

Seasonal menu specials include:

  • Tinga Tostadas - chicken tinga with pickled red onion, Cotija, avocado crema, and cilantro
  • Shrimp Wonton - shrimp ceviche with avocado crema, crispy wonton, Gochugaru, and sesame seeds
  • Fish Tacos - grilled Barramundi, pineapple salsa, pickled jicama, smoked paprika aioli, and dill
  • Flatbread - cauliflower, leeks, Medjool dates, prosciutto, and dolce latte gorgonzola. 

Specialty Cocktails include:

  • Not My Circus -- a communal cocktail featuring Mi Campo Blanco Tequila, Koloa Coconut Rum, lime, papaya, oat milk, triple syrup, soda, and a garnish of floating lime wheels

Located on the Ogden Slip, Robert's Pizza offers a dog-friendly patio is a cul-de-sac on the river.

I|O Godfrey

I|O Godfrey Roofscape bar and lounge, located on the 4th floor of The Godfrey Hotel features a retractable roof, offering an indoor bar and outdoor lounge complete with fire pits and skyline views. Guests can dine in for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Sunday, Happy Hour from Tuesday to Thursday 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., weekend brunch, and various events throughout the year. The rooftop encompasses approximately 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, with 10,000 square feet meeting and event space for receptions for 750. 

LondonHouse Chicago

LondonHouse Chicago's rooftop offers views of the Chicago River and Magnificent Mile. The 21st floor rooftop offers both indoor, LH On 21, and outdoor, LH Rooftop dining options, serving American cuisine and cocktails. The venue also provides various options for social events, including outdoor terrace patios and private indoor dining spaces. The LH Rooftop is open daily, 11 a.m. - midnight with kitchen & bar service from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. The menu includes Chef Features, American Tapas, Starters, Salads, Entrees, Desserts as well as a selection of cocktails, spirit-free mocktails, beer, wine and champagne. 

Costera Cocina Tulum

Costera’s 88-seat outdoor patio is located in Fulton Market. Curated by chef Rick Tramonto and Executive Chef Aldo Ayala, Costera’s menu is inspired by the coastal and Mayan cuisine of Tulum and incorporates land-and-sea principles with more traditional Mexican dishes. The cocktail program offers classics, served alongside meals or a la carte. 

Prime Bar

Prime Bar offers a 40-person seasonal patio for alfresco dining. The menu features shareable starters, soups, salads, handheld sandwiches, house-made pastas, fresh seafood, and prime beef. The bar offers cocktails, including spritzes and twists on classics like the Hugo and Amalfi, as well as European-inspired steakhouse drinks. The wine list offers bottles from the Mediterranean and the Pacific Coast. 

Hampton Social Streeterville

The Hampton Social - Streeterville's second floor outdoor terrace offers a covered ceiling, soft turf flooring, overhanging lights, and heaters when needed. This space can be customized with buffet tables, action stations and an array of hors d'oeuvres.

Fioretta

Located on the 13th floor, The Penthouse at Fioretta provides custom reception-style menus, showcasing Fioretta's cuisine and service. The venue features with views of the Chicago skyline, and accordion-style doors that open to blend indoor and outdoor spaces. 

Bandit

Bandit, located in the West Loop - Fulton Market neighborhood of Chicago, offers 80 outdoor spots between sidewalk seating in front of the restaurant. The back patio is fully enclosed and heated during winter months. This space features a bar for beverage service and several high top tables with barstools to offer seating. This restaurant offers a menu including all-day dining, weekend brunch, happy hour, and kids' options, along with a selection of drinks such as cocktails, beer, seltzers, shots, and more. Bandit also caters to its four-legged guests with a special Bandit’s Pup Pick menu, featuring entrees like Skirt Steak, Burger Patty and Chicken Breast and desserts like Woof-Cream, with a portion of the proceeds donated to PAWS Chicago. 

Barrio

Barrio, a casual Mexican restaurant in River North, offers a menu from tacos and margaritas to dining. The restaurant features a patio. For pet owners, Barrio offers the Bark-IO Puppy Menu, featuring entrees like Skirt Steak, Burger Patty, and Chicken Breast, as well as desserts like Woof-Cream. A portion of the proceeds from the pet menu is donated to PAWS Chicago, supporting their mission to help homeless pets. 

Siena Tavern

Siena Tavern's outdoor seating includes a covered patio that is pet-friendly. Siena Tavern caters to its four-legged guests with a special Puppy Ciao menu, featuring entrees such as Chicken Breast or Burger Patty, and delightful Doggy Desserts like Woof-Cream, Dairy-Free Gelato, Doggy Donut, and the Pawsibly the Best Sundae Ever. Bar Siena West Loop and North Shore

Bar Siena's West Loop and North Shore location offers regional Italian fare and drinks in a two-story space complete with a patio and a bar. Patrons can select donuts with sundae-style toppings, plus gelato & coffee as well as ‘For the Pups’ menu including Woof-Cream, Dairy-Free Gelato, Doggy Donut, and the Pawsibly the Best Sundae Ever. Lyra

Rooted in the Greek ethos of wellness, Lyra brings fresh, holistic fare to Chicago diners in an earth-toned, indoor-meets-outdoor space. Lyra caters to its four-legged guests with a special Puppy Menu featuring Boneless Chicken Thigh and Doggy Desserts like Dairy Free Gelato, Doggy Donut and the Pawsibly the Best Sundae Ever. A portion of the proceeds from the pet menu is donated to PAWS Chicago. 

Blanco Cocina

Blanco Cocina y Cantina's patio in Oak Brook seats 78 for seated and 90 for reception. 

Old Town Pour House Oak Brook and Naperville

Old Town Pour House is a bar and restaurant with a modern American menu offering chef-driven twists. It boasts 90 beers on tap, including over 30 dedicated to local breweries, and features an outdoor patio with two fireplaces.

Paradise Park

"Sunshine Daydream" is the rooftop atop Paradise Park. With light bites that include Truffle Fries, Hummus Platter and Taquitos. Craft cocktails are available along with a selection of bottomless Spritzes ( available Sat. & Sun. 11am-2pm) or some summertime cocktails like a Spicy Pineapple Margarita. 

Frontier Chicago 

Their heated, all-weather Beer Garden, adjacent to the main bar, is an extension of the main dining room. On warm days, you can eat and drink under open skies thanks to the Beer Garden’s retractable roof. 

Happy Camper 

At Happy Camper, their patio is decked out with disco balls encapsulating the ceiling and neon signs with cheeky sayings. Guests can dine outside for a full meal or one of their drinks.

Homeslice 

In Lincoln Park, Homeslice, has a patio with an installation that has a graffiti wall displaying their brand Homeslice. 

Mordecai 

Located across from Wrigley Field, guests can choose from American classics on Mordecai's upstairs patio while keeping track of the current score, with a flat-screen TV located across the way. Mordecai's patio is open Fridays & Saturdays (weather permitting).

Tanta 

Tanta's seasonal rooftop patio offers the full menu featuring Peruvian options, such as skewers rom the streets of Lima and Peru's national cocktail, the Pisco Sour. Tanta also offers seasonal cocktails, draft and bottled beers, and white, bubbly, and rose wines by the glass to sip. 

Taureaux Tavern 

Taureaux Tavern's covered veranda allows for year-round access. Strung lights create the ambiance to feast on  French cuisine. The veranda is also dog-friendly when four-legged friends find themselves on the guest list.

Taureaux Tavern has added Karaoke Night to its spring/summer events lineup. Karaoke begins every Thursday night on the patio at 5pm and will last as long as guests are willing to sing! Tables and chairs will be arranged “theater style” with a satellite bar in the center against the dining room windows. In addition, Happy Hour will be extended to all karaoke participants to help those needing a little “liquid courage” to belt out their favorite tunes.

Canal Street Eatery & Market and Afterbar

Situated in the BMO Building on the Green at 320, Canal Street Eatery & Market features sandwiches, salads, and coffees, as well as pastas, pizzas, and other Italian favorites (plus a wine list). Afterbar, located next door to Canal Street, is a happy hour spot with a cocktail list, pizzas, and other bar snacks. 

Leña Brava

Leña Brava will be opening its patio around May 1st. This outdoor space extends from the sidewalks of Randolph street to Peoria. The patio accommodates up to 38 people, featuring a mix of two-top and four-top tables surrounded by greenery and music. Hours will be from 4:30-10:00pm Sunday through Thursday & 4:30-10:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Robey

The Robey is home to a 13th floor rooftop cocktail lounge, The Up Room, as well as seasonal 6th floor pool & bar Cabana Club, The Robey has curated two rooftop experiences for its guests. 

  • Cabana Club: Perched six stories high in the sky, this seasonal urban oasis is relaunching this summer with a whole new look. Functioning as a Mediterranean-inspired semi-private day club, guests can purchase passes – sold for $30/piece, entry includes includes a welcome glass of prosecco and a crudité bar, along with pool privileges and views of Chicago’s downtown skyline and the neighborhood of Wicker Park. Cabana is rolling out an all-new menu of Mediterranean bites and beverages, like Caprese Style Burrata Toast and Pomegranate Cosmos, along with fresh programming (Sunday DJ parties, Aperol partnerships, and night swim sessions). 

  • The Up Room: This indoor-outdoor bar and lounge offers views of the Chicago skyline. Guests can stretch out across low sofas next to the bar—or venture outside to the terrace and look upon Wicker Parkwith cocktails and a curated wine selection.

Chef Art Smith's Reunion

The outdoor patio at Reunion seats 200, including the 15-seat outdoor bar, and boasts greenery and white wood accents. The views feature a view of the city skyline and the lake. The full Reunion menu (featuring Chef Art's signature fried chicken, mac and cheese and more) is available on the patio, including their weekday happy hour specials (available Monday-Friday). This summer, they are also planning live music on Wednesday and Friday evenings, as well as on Sunday during brunch.

Mercadito

Mercadito will offer their same menu as inside and are open for lunch and dinner with last call one hour before inside. Their patio seats 32, is dog-friendly and is first come, first serve.

Heritage Restaurant & Caviar Bar

Heritage will offer the same menu and operate the same hours as inside. Their patio seats 30, is dog-friendly and is first come, first serve. 

Mya by Medi

Mya by Medi will offer the same menu as inside, available for dinner only. Their patio seats 16-20 but is not dog-friendly.

The Goddess and Grocer Fulton Market

The Fulton Market location features a patio that seats 30, is dog-friendly and is surrounded by floral and greenery. The patio overlooks their Randolph St. Walk Up Window for ordering with pups.

The Goddess and Grocer Bucktown

The upstairs patio space features views of Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood, plus two and four top seating enclosed by seasonal florals. The Damen Avenue Walk Up Window also allows for ordering with furry friends.

Sunda New Asian River North

Sunda's River North location offers a sidewalk patio that seats 24 (6 tables / 4 seats each), is dog-friendly and is surrounded by a floral and greenery barrier. For those sunny hours on Illinois Ave, guests are covered with partial shade.

The Gwen

Upstairs at The Gwen, is an Art Deco-inspired rooftop retreat, offering skyline vistas, sunrise-to-sundown dining, and mixology in a twinkle-lit atmosphere. Upstairs at The Gwen takes patio season well into the winter. Weekday & weekend breakfast and brunch, lunch, dinner or drinks. Terrace closes nightly at 11 pm.

Celeste

The fourth-floor Garden space offers a year-round experience in the city thanks to a retractable glass rooftop and interiors decorated with floral print Victorian furniture, tropical greenery, and vine covered brick walls. The space accommodates 75 and features a full bar, bottle service and large format champagne options are available. Open Wednesday - Saturday at 9pm. 

Cindy’s Rooftop 

Perched on the 13th floor of the Chicago Athletic Association under a glass atrium, Cindy's open-air terrace can be accessed all year round and boasts views of Millennium Park and beyond, giving way to the blues of Lake Michigan - a backdrop for Executive Chef Kaleena Bliss, and her menu featuring local wild and seasonal produce and fresh seafood.

Pippin's Tavern 

Pippin’s Tavern is now offering a new patio. The 40-seat, pet-friendly patio is located on Wabash Ave., steps away from Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. Guests can partake in Happy Hour every Monday through Friday from 3pm to 6pm featuring $1.50 Oysters, $6 Charcuterie Cones, $6 Draft Beer, $6 House Wine, and $15 White Wine Carafes. Pippin's Tavern also offers Weekend Brunch from 11am to 3pm featuring $30 Bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Marys. 

River Shannon

River Shannon is a pet-friendly Irish Pub with an outdoor patio, pouring Irish whiskeys and local beer for over 70 years. Happy Hour is offered on the patio (or indoors) Monday through Thursday from 3pm to 6pm.

Streeter’s Tavern

Streeter's Tavern features a pet-friendly outdoor patio. For those who don’t want to watch the hustle and bustle of the city, guests can descend into the bar and find games like pool, pong, giant Jenga, foosball, and darts. Happy Hour takes place Monday through Friday between 3pm and 5pm with rotating monthly specials.

Boleo

Boleo, the Kimpton Gray Hotel’s rooftop restaurant and lounge, offers happy hour Tuesday through Saturday from 3-6 PM, imbued with Latin-inspired flavors, music and ambiance beneath a retractable glass roof. Boleo’s abbreviated menu is reminiscent of a Pan-Latin market with:

The Smith

The Smith offers a patio within walking distance from Navy Pier and the Riverwalk. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and happy hour (Martini Hour), featuring a selection of five classic martinis, including the Espresso Martini, The Dirty Martini, Midtown Manhattan No. 3, Lychee Gimlet, and Basil Lemon Drop. The Martini Hour menu also includes light bites and specialty snacks like oysters, Black Truffle Arancini, and Potato Chips with Blue Cheese Fondue. Martini Hour is available Mondays - Fridays from 3 - 6 PM.

LG's Bar & Kitchen

LG’s Bar & Kitchen recently launched some spring/summer cocktails, including shareable cocktails, and frozen cocktails. They also host an all-day happy hour every Friday from 12 pm-7 pm and weekly food and drink specials. New Spring/Summer Cocktails:

  • IT TAKES TWO TO MANGO (Milagro reposado, lemon juice, demerara, mango puree, topped with mango chart)

Sifr

Sifr is opening a second-floor rooftop atop their restaurant this May. With a full-bar, convertible awning covering for all weather conditions, and Sifr’s a la carte menu available on the rooftop, guests can select a Mezze plate along with plates like the kebabs, Maitake Mushrooms and more. 

Fora 

Located in the Fulton Market neighborhood, Fora’s terrace offers brunch, lunch or dinner. The dining experience at Fora offers a globally-inspired menu featuring bites and shareable menu items. 

W XYZ Bar at Aloft Mag Mile 

Opening this Spring, the patio at W XYZ Bar at Aloft Chicago Mag Mile provides a dog-friendly patio with a seasonal cocktail menu featuring classics and large format sips. Live music every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday in an open atmosphere situated on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. 

Chicago Burger Company

Located along the Chicago River at Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk, Chicago Burger Company serves bites paired with views of the river. This restaurant with an outdoor, dog-friendly patio offers guests classic burgers and sandwiches, fresh salads, thick shakes and cocktails. Patio games are available, and you bring your pup along. The pup menu at Chicago Burger Company features options like a Barkuterie Board, Bark Burger, Cookie Treat or a Pup Cup.

BLVD Steakhouse

BLVD Steakhouse offers an all-season 120-seat Atrium space located at the corner of Lake and Green Streets in the Fulton Market District. The Atrium features an outdoor dining room, a 20-seat bar, and a private event space. On March 30, every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, BLVD Steakhouse will be offering weekend brunch in the Atrium. New dishes offered include a King Crab Benedict, TK Chopped Salad and Maine Lobster Roll as well as a new beverage menu with brunch-forward cocktails and a list of Champagne and rosé. 

Offshore Rooftop

Located at the far East end of Chicago’s Navy Pier, Offshore Rooftop offers views of Lake Michigan and the city’s skyline. This multi-seasonal space also boasts a kitchen and full-service bar. 

Rose Mary 

Opening May 1, Rose Mary’s patio is in the Fulton Market neighborhood, which is inspired by the natural elements of Croatia’s Adriatic coast. Shade from Rose Mary’s striped umbrellas will keep diners cool while they select from an Italian-Croatian fusioned cuisine. Overhead strings of lights adorn the patio section, which provides a backdrop and lighting. Reservations are available via OpenTable.

Farm Bar Lakeview

Located within the Lakeview neighborhood, the Farm Bar patio, complete with a garden and cocktail menu. Cocktails include the Cider Sangria, Let the Beet Drop, and the Chai Cold Brew Martini. Every Tuesday, diners also have the chance to give back to the community of Lakeview in which Farm Bar will donate 20% of your dining experience to the charity of your choice with their weekly Giving Tuesday program.

The Dearborn

The Dearborn's patio overlooks Chicago’s Loop with classic cocktails or select small and large plates from Chef Aaron. 

Jaleo by José Andrés 

Jaleo offers a taste of Spain, including a patio in Chicago’s River North neighborhood. Pitchers of Sangria - and $8 glasses during Sangria hour from 4-6 pm on weekdays - or a signature paella al fresco. The patio at Jaleo is open for guests during lunch and dinner during the week, and brunch and dinner on weekends.

Bar Mar 

Bar Mar, the seafood-focused restaurant by Chef José Andrés located in the Bank of America tower, features an 50-seat patio with river views. As its name implies, the menu is designed to immerse guests in all things fish and seafood, accompanied by a list of hand-crafted, cocktails created to complement the experience, from lunch to after work drinks to dinner. On the interior, full length windows connecting the restaurant to the patio open up for a hybrid dining experience.

Kindling

Opening this spring as weather permits, the Kindling Downtown Cookout & Cocktails Terrace is an extension of the overall second floor design of the main restaurant. This 3,400 square foot exterior terrace sits above the street with the Willis Tower as its backdrop and has a seasonal container bar anchoring the far corner with space and various seating areas separated by landscaping all connected with a series of festoon lights. Each seating area has characteristics such as game/dining tables, picnic tables and high and low seating.
