Bar Goa, River North’s Indian gastropub and cocktail bar, is offering new menu items. Guests can taste Indian and Goan dishes on the refreshed menu with options ranging from Pork Vindaloo and Butter Chicken Croquettes to Lamb Keema and Samosa Chaats.
"We started with a small menu to initially focus on the bar and vibes. People just loved our food so much,” said Owner Rina Mallick adding, “We knew we needed to go bigger on our food offerings and we can’t wait for Chicagoans to try these new dishes."
Because Goa offers Indian seafood dishes, Chef Sahil Sethi has brought his take on Goan Fish Curry to Bar Goa — imagine whole sea bass wrapped in banana leaf and served in a fiery balcao sauce with lemon and basmati rice. Diners can also try seafood offerings like Black Tiger Prawns in a Recheado Sauce and mussels in a Moilee Sauce with pickled onions, dill and cilantro.
Bar Goa presents an Indian menu in the River North neighborhood, also incorporating Indian classics like a traditional Butter Chicken and Lamb Keema Pao, and new protein options including Grilled Lamb Chops stuffed with labneh and seasoned with peanut podi.
An array of vegetarian items have also been added to the menu, such as Roasted Cauliflower in Makhani Sauce, Spiced Potato Flat Bread and Dahi Bhalla with sweet yogurt, tamarind, mint chutney and a secret house spice. Bar Goa serves Bollywood Brunch from 12-3 p.m. on weekends.
The beverage menu at Bar Goa offers spirits, Portuguese wines, Indian beers and crafted Resort cocktails featuring Indian spins. The ‘Edge of India’ brings together Ghee-Washed Jin, Jiji Gin, amaro and a hint of banana liquor under a pinch of chamomile flowers. ‘The Global Nomad’ features a house-made kokum, mint and ginger syrup, and comes with a chili-amchur (mango powder) salt rim.
Bar Goa offers Happy Hour Monday through Thursday from 5-6 p.m. and on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. Bar Goa’s Whiskey Wednesday is offered all day every Wednesday and features half-off the full selection of whiskey, bourbon and scotch. Industry Night is offered at Bar Goa every Monday with special discounts for members of the hospitality industry.
