Gone are the stereotypes about women in beer. It used to be, if a woman did order a beer, it was expected she wanted something "light". More and more bars and bartenders are recognizing women, just like men, will drink everything from fruity berry Weis beers to the most hop-centric, hop-forward beer they can find. Women do more than just drink beer, too. Women brew it, sell it, market it, and deliver it, and the next AlphaBeer event will showcase “ Women In Beer”.
It makes sense; the event was inspired by a woman, it's hosted by a woman, and it's emceed by a woman: the delightfully informative and charming Jill Houk. This time, AlphaBeer is partnering with Barley's Angels Chicago, a group that works to expand the appreciation and understanding of craft beer among women by bringing them together with craft beer professionals to explore craft beer.
