New Menu Mexican Des Plaines Arlington Heights

Randhurst Village will become even livelier when Truco Taqueria & Margarita Bar reveals its new menu, décor and specials on April 24. Just in time for one of the biggest Mexican celebrations, Cinco de Mayo, Truco will be slinging street tacos and shaking up margaritas. A funky goddess mural, decorative skeleton folk art and a massive television, showing up to five different American/Mexican sporting events, will set the stage for this newly updated Mexican outpost.

When Truco’s Chef Juan Luis was approached to create a concept suitable to be next to the AMC Theatre, Mexican street food was the obvious choice. Movie goers would appreciate a quick meal and a margarita before or after the show. Truco, meaning “little trick” in Spanish, became the project name for a spin off from Mago, the restaurant’s sister restaurant, meaning “magician.”

The lighter, more casual menu features Mexican Flatbreads including Costilla with braised beef short rib, tamarind BBQ sauce, Serrano peppers, avocado and radish ($12) and Camaron with shrimp, adobo salsa, goat cheese, cilantro, purple onion, avocado and arugula ($12). Over a dozen Tacos will be highlighted like Chicken Pipian Verde with pulled chicken, tomatillo pumpkin seed and sesame seed sauce, queso fresco, cilantro and toasted seeds ($3) on double corn tortillas.

The menu will also feature a Milanesa Torta ($11), El Gringo Burger ($10) and Burritos available gluten free served over lettuce. Plus, dMexican Breakfast will be offered all day, everyday. Favorites like Chilaquiles ($11), Breakfast Burrito ($10) and Huevos Rancheros ($11) will be available day through night.

Truco’s new cantina bar will feature freshly made margaritas including the Oh My Gato with Herradura Blanco, orange liqueur, muddled cucumbers, jalapeno and lime juice ($10) plus four frozen margaritas flavors, mojitos and local draft beer.

Diners looking for weekday specials are in luck, as Truco will offer Happy Hour Monday through Thursday from 3pm to 6pm with $5 frozen margaritas and $3 Mexican drafts. Other specials, available all day, include: Mondays $5 margaritas; Tuesdays half off tacos; Wednesdays $5 sangria; and Thursdays $18 Coronitas Extra buckets and half off burritos.

Truco will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo on Friday, May 5 with the new menu, Friday specials and DJ Marco Herrera will be spinning tunes from 6 to 11 p.m.
