Charity Event Fulton Market

On Friday, November 8th, Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry will host its 30th annual event in Chicago. Co-chaired by Joe Flamm, Diana Davila and Elissa Narow, the evening will unite dozens of the regions best chefs and mixologists – all to raise the critical funds needed to end childhood hunger across the US.

Held at Revel Fulton Market, Chicago’s Taste of the Nation is one in an annual national series featuring culinary creations crafted by chefs, sommeliers and mixologists, united to ensure all children in America have access to nutritious meals they need, every day. One-hundred-percent of proceeds support the No Kid Hungry campaign’s work to end childhood hunger in America.

Guests can look forward to bite-size fare, craft cocktails and desserts. In addition to the chef presence, Taste of the Nation will host moments like a bartender “Speakeasy” with mixologists pouring specialty drinks as well as a “Pastry Shop” serving desserts and baked goods. Chefs from surrounding cities will also be in attendance to serve bites at the event’s first “Taste of the Midwest” pop-up, including: Justin Sutherland (Pearl & the Thief, Minneapolis), Kevin Scharpf (Brazen Open Kitchen, Dubuque), Kate Williams (Lady of the House, Detroit), Matthew Spinner (Ushabu, Cleveland), Heather Terhune (Tre Rivali, Milwaukee), Kevin Nashan (Sidney Street Cafe, St. Louis), and Jonathan Brooks (Beholder, Indianapolis).

Culinary talent from Chicago includes: Ryan Pfeiffer (Blackbird), Stephanie Izard (Cabra, Girl & the Goat, Little Goat Diner, Duck Duck Goat), Zeeshan Shaw (Superkhana International), Jason Vincent (Giant), Joe Flamm (Spiagga/Top Chef), Diana Davila (Mi Tocaya Antojeria), Thai Dang (HaiSous), and Mike Simmons (Café Marie Jeanne). Mixologists like Scott Stroemer (Pacific Standard Time, The Laurel), Bill Acosta (Spilt Milk), and Gary Matthews (Drum Bar) will also be participating.

“One in six children in America lives with hunger, and only 36% of eligible kids who need school breakfast are getting it in right now in Illinois,'' says Top Chef winner and celebrated Chicago chef Joe Flamm. “I’m proud to partner with No Kid Hungry for a fun evening that’s serious about ending childhood hunger.”

Chicago’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry is supported by national co-presenting sponsors Citi and Sysco®, national media sponsor Food Network, and national sponsor OpenTable. Local sponsors include Breakthru Beverage, Huge Galdones Photography, EcoLab, Goose Island, Topo Chico, and Fortune Fish Company.
