Guten Appetit! State and Lake Chicago Tavern is celebrating Oktoberfest by offering guests a selection of German cuisine that began Friday, September 21 and will run through Monday, October 8 starting at 4 pm each day. From traditional dishes like Pork Schnitzel and a sweet German pancake to German Märzen draft beers, locals will enjoy a taste of Germany without ever leaving the city.
Combining Executive Chef Nathan’s and General Manager Liz VanLeuwen’s experience with German cuisine during their time at The Radler, Chef Nathan and Liz have curated an exclusive Oktoberfest menu, whether you are German or not. Over the two weeks, guests at State and Lake Chicago Tavern will have the opportunity to try a selection of classic Oktoberfest menu items including Aged Cheddar Soft Pretzel with creamy apple mustard, Local Folks grainy mustard, and Pleasant Ridge Reserve cheese, Pork Schnitzel with truffled apple puree, bacon fried potatoes, Banyuls roasted red cabbage, grapes and celery gremolata, a Crispy Roasted Schweinshaxe (pork shank), with Haus sauerkraut, dill pickles, roasted carrots with horseradish and herbs, and rye bread (serves two), and a Kaiserschmarrn (sweet German pancake) with Rum raisins, and whipped pistachio butter.
Prost to the Oktoberfest season with a selection of German Märzen drafts including a Metropolitan Afterburner, Urban Chestnut Oachkatzlschwoaf, and Great Central Festzelt. Guests will even have the option to drink out of a boot. Additional offerings include a German beer flight and Underberg. For every German Märzen draft purchased during this promotion, guests will be entered into a drawing for a $150 gift card to State and Lake Chicago Tavern.
