Craft Cocktails West Loop

The National Restaurant Association, in partnership with Choose Chicago and the Illinois Restaurant Association, is hosting the inaugural Chicago STARS Mixology Competition. Held on Sunday, May 20 from 6-8 p.m., ten local mixologists will be tasked with creating innovative cocktails for judges, with one bartender being crowned the winner.

Presented by Beam Suntory, Real Cocktail Ingredients, and Maraschino Cherries; the competition will be judged by acclaimed mixologists and “World’s Best Bartender” champions, Charles Joly and Ago Perrone.

Bartenders from across Chicago vied for a spot in the competition, which will focus on original cocktail recipes.

The ten finalists include:

• Jarmel Doss, The Aviary
• Dustin Drankiewicz, Bar Harvest Group and The Pink Squirrel
• Alyssa Heidt, The Office
• Madelyn Kay, Beatnik
• Kelly Dawson, Untitled Supper Club
• Christopher Kyles, Gibsons Italia
• Jessica Lambert, Vol.39 and Boleo
• Danielle Lewis, GT Fish and Oyster and GT Prime
• Matthew Zavala, Ludlow Liquors

The competition takes place at Lettuce Entertain You restaurants newest private event hall The Dalcy (302 N. Green Street) which shares a third-floor space with Aba, a new restaurant with a rooftop patio from Chef CJ Jacobson. Attendees will get a first-look at the new Fulton Market concepts and light bites inspired by Jacobson’s forthcoming menu. Guests will also get to sample a variety of cocktails created by Liz Pearce and Thomas Moore of The Aba & The Dalcy’s beverage team, featuring spirits from the Beam Suntory portfolio. Tickets are available online for $50.

The Chicago Stars Mixology Competition coincides with the 2018 National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show®, the largest annual foodservice trade show in the country. The National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show runs May 19-22 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
