PUBLICAN QUALITY MEATS BURGER NIGHT SERIES

DETAILS: This battle of the meats features a signature PQM burger alongside two dueling specialty burger creations from some of Chicago’s most notable restaurants, bars, and personalities. A PQM tradition since 2012, each installment in the series is sure to deliver an epic evening of culinary competition with ample amounts of bourbon and beer on hand with the best selling burger crowned champion. 

SOUTH AFRICAN WINE DINNER AT PUBLICAN QUALITY MEATS

DETAILS: Enjoy 6 courses of South African inspired fare, each paired with a wine selection from the ancient continent, at this flavor-filled feast. Carefully crafted by Chef de Cuisine Joe Frietze, the evening's menu includes traditional South African dishes such as amagwinya filled with seasonal jam, bitong with artichoke, boerowors with grilled onion, stone fruit and bitter greens along with hertzoggies jam tarts by Executive Pastry Chef of The Publican family, Erika Chan.

EXTENDED HAPPY HOUR AND HOT DOGS AT PUBLICAN ANKER

DATE: July 4th 

LOCATION: Publican Anker, 1576 N Milwaukee Ave

TIME: 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

DETAILS: To ring in 4th of July, Publican Anker is extending their happy hour (dozen oysters & a bottle of wine for $40 or a 1/2 dozen oysters & carafe of wine for $20) and serving up hot dogs, hot off the grill! Chef de Cuisine AJ Walker will be grilling hot dogs outside just beyond the patio for patriotic patrons on the go! 

SATURDAY MARKET POP-UP FEATURING DOVE’S LUNCHEONETTE

DATE: July 7, 2018

LOCATION: The Parking Lot at Big Star Wicker Park, 1531 N. Damen Ave.

TIME: 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

DETAILS: Once a month throughout the summer, Big Star’s iconic summer patio will host a special pop-up market, featuring bites and beverages from Wicker Park hotspots as well as unique finds from local boutiques and shops. Dove’s Luncheonette kicks off the series with vinyl spun by DJ Courtland, artisanal paletas, as well as agua frescas. LAUNCH PARTY: BIG STAR / REVOLUTION BREWING PINEAPPLE RADLER 

DATE: July 14, 2018

LOCATION: Big Star Wrigleyville, 3640 North Clark St. 

TIME: 5:00 p.m. 

DETAILS: Kickoff patio pounder season with the release of the Pineapple Radler, the latest collaboration between Big Star and Revolution Brewing (the teams behind the highly successful Fist City American Pale Ale). Based with Rev Pils, the radler is infused with fresh pineapple, making it light in bite but aromatically bold. Try the brew at Big Star Wrigleyville with a mezcal shot or pair it with a bite by ordering Big Star's signature tacos al pastor, which are made with spit roasted pork shoulder and grilled onions and pineapple.

DETAILS: This summer, girls (with grills) just want to have fun at Big Star. A lineup of Chicago’s leading culinary talent will team up to grill up savory snacks and sweet bites al fresco in the parking lot at the original Wicker Park location. The all-star roster includes Big Star’s Julie Warpinski, Nico Osteria’s Leigh Omilinksy, Split Rail’s Zoe Schor, Baker Miller’s Megan Miller, Bixi Brewery’s Bo Fowler and The Whistler’s Julieta Campos. BLACKBIRD AT 20 DINNER SERIES FEATURING ACCLAIMED CHARLESTON CHEF SEAN BROCK DATE: July 23

DETAILS: To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Blackbird (Executive Chef Paul Kahan and Chef de Cuisine Ryan Pfeiffer) is inviting a handful of the best chefs in the country into the kitchen with a collection of special dinners, titled Blackbird at 20. The third installation of the series will feature a coursed out dinner presented by iconic Charleston chef Sean Brock.
