Sustainable Seafood River North

When: Every Friday night from February 20th through April 3rd

Where: Kinmont (419 W Superior St)

With lent now underway, Kinmont is excited to announce their partnership with Shedd Aquarium in conjunction with their Friday Night Fish Fry series. Kinmont, Chicago's entirely sustainable seafood restaurant, and Shedd Aquarium, whose award-winning Right Bite program exists to help people make easy, enjoyable seafood choices that benefit the health of our waters worldwide, have partnered with a purpose: to encourage those observing lent to not just eat any fish, but sustainable and responsibly sourced fish. Every Friday 10% of the Fish Fry profits will go back to Shedd Aquarium to support their sustainable seafood initiative in the Midwest.

Kinmont Friday Night Fish Fry

Kinmont will be serving up fresh Rockfish from a California groundfish fishery, served fish & chips style with different accents, flavors and flourishes each week for $19.

About 91 percent of seafood consumed in the U.S. is caught or processed overseas and scientists have determined that there will be no seafood left by the year 2048 if changes are not made to current harvest management practices. With American seafood consumption on the rise, our seafood choices can contribute to healthier ecosystems that protect marine life. Kinmont and Shedd Aquarium hope to raise awareness on these issues and provide Chicago with this sustainable fish option for lent, a California Rockfish that is considered a "best choice" or "good alternative" by Shedd's rigorous standards.
