The Franco’s Restaurant Group of family-owned restaurants will open Il Culaccino, a 225-seat, fine Italian dining restaurant in Chicago’s new McCormick Square neighborhood, in Spring 2019.
Anchored in the Arrive Lex Tower, 2138 South Indiana, Il Culaccino is the first upscale Italian, full-service restaurant in the McCormick Square entertainment district. It’s located steps away from Wintrust Arena, and a short walk from McCormick Place.
Visitors to the McCormick Square entertainment district, will find a variety of dining and beverage choices for business luncheons, after work cocktails or dinner, pre-game snacks and after-game celebrations. It’s also a destination for fans attending a Chicago Sky or DePaul Blue Demons game, a concert or other event.
Il Culaccino (translated as the ring left by a glass of wine) will offer a wide selection of Italian and international wines and spirits to complement a menu that will pay homage to Italian classics. Guests can expect Italian-style appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts as well as contemporary twists on well-loved favorites.
The build-out of Il Culaccino is now underway. The wine-themed décor will include floor-to-ceiling wine racks built into nearly every wall. The restaurant will include a bright all-seasons patio encased by a retractable roof for al fresco cocktails and dining. The year-round patio will seat 120 guests. Il Culaccino can accommodate a total of 225 guests for lunch or dinner.
“Il Culaccino is ready to make its mark in McCormick Square,” said Frank A. Ruffolo, Managing Partner, Franco’s Restaurant Group. “We are truly excited to bring our fifth restaurant concept to Chicago’s hottest new entertainment district. We are bursting with pride to be the district’s first Italian restaurant on South Indiana that is helping drive the transformation in our corner of the near South Side,” Ruffolo added.
“At Arrive Lex, we are proud to focus on high-rise living in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood and we are thrilled to partner with Il Culaccino and the Franco’s Restaurant Group to offer our apartment residents and their friends and family a unique and upscale dining experience,” said Troy Edwards, Trinity Property Consultants. “The tenants in our 35-story building are eagerly awaiting Il Culaccino’s Grand Opening. It’s the first restaurant in the apartment tower and we’re are excited to have a convenient, new and inviting place to host residents and neighborhood newcomers for lunch, dinner, wine or a cocktail, before and after an event or conference,” Edwards added.
