Has unveiled their special prix fixe menu for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Curated by Executive Chef Larry Feldmeier, formerly of Sixteen, the menu is available for $85 a person with the option of a $45 wine pairing. To kick off the menu, starter options such as Sweet Potato Salad with goat gouda, baby kale, & blackberry,  Grand Board, and Celery Root Soup will be offered to enjoy. Mains include Whole Roasted Chicken with truffle stuffing and gravy, Pomme PureeRoasted Brussel Sprouts with Nueske’s bacon, and Housemade Bread with cultured butter. Guests looking to satisfy their sweet tooth can pick from an assortment of holiday pies and sorbets created by Executive Pastry Chef Vanarin Kuch, former contestant on Top Chef Just Desserts and Chopped.

Christmas Hours and New Winter Drinks

Chicagoans can warm up on Christmas Eve with Caffè Umbria's new winter drinks. The Logan Square café will open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the River North café will open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both locations will be closed on Christmas Day.

Guests can sip the Panettone Latte ($4 to $4.75), an innovative latte inspired by the Italian holiday sweet bread featuring espresso, steamed milk and Panettone Syrup with flavors of vanilla and candied orange. Another great option is Caffè Umbria's Nitro al Panettone ($4.75, 12-ounce), a nitro cold brew with a holiday twist, laced with rich flavors of the classic Panettone--vanilla, almond and candied fruit, and an orange twist.

Christmas Eve Lunch and Christmas Day Specials

Commonwealth Tavern will open on Christmas Eve from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Christmas Day from 5 p.m. to close (the kitchen will be closed on Christmas Day).

This holiday season Tack Room, the equestrian themed cocktail bar located inside of Pilsen’s Thalia Hall, is opening its carriage house to welcome Santa’s reindeer. From November 30 through Christmas, Tack Room will transform into the Reindeer Room, a winter wonderland decked from head-to-toe in sparkling lights, ornaments and more. Guests can enjoy festive sips named after Santa’s reindeer — Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and Rudolph — and every Friday night resident piano maestro, S. On Sunday, December 9th from 12 - 5 p.m., enjoy a shopping experience with local Pilsen businesses and vendors like MestizaChi Boys and more. -Holiday Tree Lot and View's at Lou's Holiday Month at Saint Lou's Assembly

Instead of leaving the comfort of the city to get your Christmas trees and wreaths, head to Saint Lou’s Assembly on Black Friday, November 23rd, as they transform the backyard patio into a holiday tree lot for the season. Celebrate the launch of the Holiday Tree lot in true festive fashion with cookie decorating and a make-your-own hot cocoa bar, as well as additional seasonal brunch specials. For added festive flair, Saint Lou’s has scheduled a visit from Santa himself. The Holiday Tree Lot will be up and running until Dec. 24, weekdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

One of the best parts of winter is heading inside, cozying up and putting on a good movie. What makes it even better is when the movie is one of your favorite holiday flicks. Head to Saint Lou’s Assembly, every week in December at 8 p.m. for Views at Lou’s: Holiday Edition. Starting on December 3rd, Saint Lou’s will be kicking off the movie series with “Friday After Next” with a special guest appearance from bartender Ariel Neal of Causing a Stir. Continuing throughout the month, enjoy all the classics like “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” (December 10th),  “A Christmas Story” (December 17th), and concluding with the rom-com “Love Actually” on December 23rd.

The rooftop destination for cocktails and cuisine at The Peninsula Chicago invites guests to don their ugliest crewnecks, V-necks and cardigans for the first annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party, 8:00 pm to 2:00 am on Friday, Dec. 14.

 Z Bar’s team, wearing their finest ugly sweaters, will preside over a contest to determine the best ugly sweater of the evening. The grand prize: dinner for two in The Lobby or the Chocolate Bar experience.

Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy themed cocktails and a live set by DJ and producer Karsten Sollors.

The gingerbread display will have a few items available for purchase such as Peanut Butter Penguins and Passion Fruit Coconut Polar Bears, along with other confections including Get Lit! The mix may also be paired with Peppermint Swirl Marshmallows, fluffy, cloud-like marshmallows whipped up in-house and flavored with peppermint, Hot Buttered Rum Marshmallows, with sugar, dark rum, orange zest, vanilla bean, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, and Spiced Pine Marshmallows, with Zirbenz Pine Liquer made from the Arolla Stone Pine in the Austrian Alps, accented with a hint of lemon zest and ginger, for $8.

Tis the season of holiday office parties and Replay is bringing back its fan favorite pop up so that everyone can celebrate with their favorite coworkers at Dunder Mifflin. Beginning Friday, November 30 at 7 p.m., Replay will host themed events and parties throughout the month culminating in “The Ultimatum”, Replay’s ‘The Office’ themed New Year’s Eve bash. Guests will be able to enjoy special, themed cocktails and an open bar from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Has a new holiday cocktail that can be enjoyed during their Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's or New Year's Day services. Holiday Cheer is a festive mix of Tito's Vodka, Kerrigold Irish Cream, Kahlua, Licor 43 and garnished with a cinnamon, sugar and graham cracker rim will debut 12/1 for $22 and will be offered through January. 

-The Promontory

With the Chicago weather getting bitterly cold faster than expected, head to Hyde Park and sip on one of The Promontory’s new winter cocktails. A recent 2019 Jean Banchet nominee for Best Neighborhood Restaurant, the venue’s creative drinks feature pumpkin seed milk, fig and thyme gin and pimento drams, to keep your bones warm throughout the chilliest time of year. Highlights from the menu include: 

  • Pumpkin Chai: Starting with the light, nutty flavors of a house made pumpkin seed milk, the Pumpkin Chai mixes the bright buttery flavors of the Brugal Añejo Superior Rum with the deep, chocolatey flavors of Blackwell Jamaican rum. Chai syrup is then added, rounding out the cocktail with its bold, spicy flavor. 
  • Figment In Thyme: If you’re not sure whether you’d like to sip on a sweet or savory cocktail, look no further than the Figment In Thyme, which features the herbal Letherbee fig and thyme gin combined with the spiciness of the pimento dram bitters. Lemon, simple syrup and egg whites are blended in giving the sip a rich, creamy texture with a beautiful and foamy cap garnished with a sprig of thyme. 

-Stan’s Donuts & Coffee 

Rolls out three festive donuts, available through Dec. 31: Peppermint Bark Old Fashioned ($2.75), Gingerbread Stan ($2.75) and the croissant-donut Egg Nog Le Stan ($4.99). Stan’s holiday drinks include Peppermint Bark Hot Chocolate, Peppermint Bark Mocha, Gingerbread Chai and Egg Nog Latte.

-The Loyalist (177 N. Ada St) 

Lead Bartender Kirill Kuznetsoff mixes up holiday cocktails from an updated Hot Toddy (Bourbon, Fermented Pine Honey, Strega, Scotch and Lemon $12) to a seasonal eggnog with a twist (Based on an Italian classic cocktail, The Loyalist's eggnog uses the Italian spirit Vov, an egg-yolk liqueur common in the Italian Alps, mixed with rum, hot milk and vanilla foam with cocoa powder and nutmeg).

-Pork & Mindy’s 

Gingerbread ‘Nado ($6) blends vanilla ice cream, gingerbread cookies and caramel sauce. It’s topped with sprinkles, gumdrops and a gingerbread man, and available at the Bucktown and Wells St. Market stores through December. At Bucktown, 1623 N. Milwaukee, guests who eat their way through 12 Days of Sangwiches, December 12th through the 24th, can enter a raffle for free catering for 25.

-The Talbott Hotel (20 E. Delaware St.) 

Every Saturday in December atguests young and old can indulge in a build-your-own Hot Chocolate Station in the lobby, decked out with whipped cream, syrups, candies and, for the adults, boozy add-ins. $6 for kids, $10 for adults.

-Gemini (2075 N. Lincoln Ave.) 

Will offer a two-course, prix-fixe menu ($36) in conjunction with ZooLights at Lincoln Park Zoo, capped off with a warm beverage and cookies to go. Warm up after your visit with hot apple cider, mixed with Hamilton's rum and a cinnamon sugar rim ($11) or a boozy hot chocolate with with Bailey’s, Godiva chocolate and Grey Goose Vanilla ($12). 

-urbanbelly (1400 W. Randolph St. and 1542 N. Damen Ave.) 

Is serving up a hearty December special: Pork & Cilantro Dumpling Ramen with Egg, Pickled Onion and Pork Broth ($13). On the side of a bowl of hot ramen or coconut curry pho, try the frozen Eggnog Shake-Up, a refreshingly boozy combo of bourbon, rum, brandy, nutmeg and cinnamon, garnished with peppermint dust ($8).

-Acanto Restaurant + Wine Bar (18 S. Michigan, 312-578-0763) 

An Italian holiday tradition usually reserved for Christmas Eve can be found earlier in the week with the “Feast of the Seven Fishes” specials occurring from December 16-24. The feast is also known as “The Vigil” (or fasting day), as Italians abstain from eating red meat until Christmas Day and instead, eat an abundance of seafood leading up to the holiday.

Chef Chris Gawronski has prepared seven dishes all with a different fish varietal that culminates with the classic Zuppa dei sette pesci soup. Chef Chris offers, “The beauty of the feast is all the different fishes featured during the week neatly come together on the final day in a hearty stew that offers an authentic taste of this Italian tradition”. 

Highlights of the menu include grilled Spanish sardines that come courtesy of a market in Holland; clams and mussels cooked to order stuffed in ravioli that offers a true punch of the ocean; a spicy swordfish puttanesca dish; grilled lobster paired with a sweet passito wine sauce; and the Pulpo a la Siciliana, a popular Sicilian street cart snack turned gourmet with confit potato and meyer lemon.  The “Feast of the Seven Fishes” specials include the following:

December 16:  Grilled Spanish Sardines | breadcrumbs, salmoriglio, roasted artichoke, $15 

December 17:  Baccalà | smoked tomato, castelvetrano olives, sorrel, $14

December 18:  Venus clams and mussels ravioli | garlic confit, herbs, laurel espuma, $26

December 19:  Swordfish puttanesca | roasted swordfish, sauce puttanesca, gnocchetti, $34

December 20:  Pulpo a la siciliana | grilled octopus, confit potato, meyer lemon, chili-pepper, $17 

December 21:  Grilled lobster | passito wine, lobster sauce

December 22 (available through December 24):  Zuppa dei sette pesci | served for two, $48

If you can’t join for the beginning of the feast, the Zuppa dei sette pesci soup will be available from Saturday, December 22 through Christmas Eve.
